Are there any additional monthly charges and handling fees with the contactless payment solution?

Each EV Charge point that runs contactless technology will require a SIM card and the data charges are invoiced on a monthly basis in advance. The first month’s data charge is included in the installation fee. There is also a small percentage-based fee for the handling and management of contactless transactions, payment handling fees are deducted at the time of the transaction.

What happens if there is a fault or the EV Charging Stations don't work?

You will also have the option to take out a one, three or five-year Operations & Maintenance contract which is paid monthly in advance. This means in the unlikely event there is a fault and the EV Chargers are not working, you will have access to fully remote support services, which include email and telephone support, unlimited software updates and proactive online monitoring. If the issue cannot be fixed remotely, with our onsite response services we will have a specialist EV engineer on-site within 24 hours to complete a fault diagnosis, repair the EV Charging station and any faults found with the electrical infrastructure or replacement of the charging station and electrical components if failed within 48 hours of diagnosis. We will also complete an annual inspection of each EV Charge point and associated electrical infrastructure. This will include leak testing, full connectivity check, wear and tear reporting and inspection of protection and bay markings.

How and when are the payments of income generated made?

Payments of income are reported on a MONTHLY basis in arrears on the last working day of the preceding month.

What kind of EV Chargers will be needed?

This varies depending on the needs of your customer. For example, if your customers park in the location overnight (ie Holiday Park) then a standard charger would charge their vehicle in about 6-7 hours. For a 3-4 hour duration (i.e Retail park), you would probably need 22kw chargers and rapid charging for a stay of 30 minutes to an hour. What warranty do I get with my electrical car charger(s)?

The manufacturer warranty you get with your electrical car charger(s) varies depending on what charger you choose. These typically vary from 1 – 3 years. However, DirectEV offers a 10 year installation guarantee with every install for no added cost.

Can I claim back any of the cost of the investment?

If your business installs charging points for electric vehicles between now and 31 March 2023, 100% first-year allowances can be claimed on the investment cost. In the March 2021 budget, the Government announced a new super-deduction capital allowance. This offers a 130% first-year allowance on qualifying electric charging points for cars and vans. To qualify, the company must use the charging point in their own business.

How much does it cost to charge an EV?

The cost to charge an electric car in the UK varies between home, work and public charging. For example, a typical electric car with a 60kWh battery and ~200 mile range: Charging at home: Costs about £15.10 for a full charge. Be sure to take advantage of lower night rate tariffs for reduced charging costs. * Charging at work: Many employers will install workplace charging points and typically offer contactless payment for the general public alongside Staff cards or tags which will allow for a cheaper and/or free charge rates for staff. Charging at public locations: Public charge points at supermarkets or car parks are often free to use for the duration of your stay although due to the recent increase in energy costs we are installing an increasing amount of contactless payment charging systems. Rapid charging: Rapid charging points are normally found at motorway service stations and typically cost £11 for a 30 min, ~90 mile charge. ** * Costs calculated at 28p/kWh based on usable battery is ~54kWh (90%). ** Charging at 50kW, receiving 3.5 miles per kWh. Assumes tariff of 44p/kWh applicable to most network rapid chargers as of April 2022.

Direct Electrical were very helpful, and their electrician was professional and friendly. The work was very thorough and finishing was neat and tidy. I had a post-installation issue - which turned out to be an issue with the way the software app works for my charger (Pod Point) - and even though it was nothing to do with their installation, and also I contacted them late on a Friday afternoon, their response was quick and solved the problem for me.

Electricians were both polite and professional, work was carried out efficiently and they were mindful of surrounding areas. We would highly recommend them.

I recently had an EV charger installed at home and cannot fault the service I received from beginning to end. Great communication from the office team, and the installation guys did a lovely job.
